Get To Know Me Tag

Hey Guys!

As you know Catriona... celebrated it's 1st birthday on Monday which is all kinds of crazy because I really didn't think I would still be doing it!

You constantly get new readers on a blog so I thought this was a brilliant excuse for me to do the Get To Know Me Tag so my newer readers as well as my long time readers can find out a few things about me!

All I'm going to say is that these questions are super random so enjoy!

1. If you could eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
This was actually really easy for me! It would definitely be lasange. I could literally live on that stuff! It tastes different with every single recipe. My favourite being a small restaurant near an apartment I have stayed in Tenerife.

2. Do you have a pet peeve?
My pet peeve would be when you are out at a cafe or out having dinner and someone pulls out their phone to check social media for no apparent reason instead of joining in with the conversation. I admit when I get a text I will answer but scrolling through Instagram while you are hanging out with friends I mean come on!

3. What form of public transport do you prefer?
I really enjoy travelling on the train. It doesn't happen often but I love it! Also going on a plane is so exciting because well you are going to be flying and who doesn't love that?!

4. How many pillows do you sleep with?
I actually only sleep with one pillow but I do have a teddy bear...

5. What was the last book you read?
The last book I read was The Kill Order the prequel to The Maze Runner series. It was confusing but definitely read the Maze Runner ones first!

6. What is your favourite type of foreign food?
It would definitely have to be Chinese. I don't eat it often but man those spring rolls!

7. Are you a clean or messy person?
Messy person. If I clean my room by the next day it will be a mess. I can't help it!

8. What kitchen appliance do you use everyday?
My kettle and I use it more than once a day so I can make my beloved tea. Don't think I could go a day without drinking it.

9. Is your glass half full or half empty?
This might be really sad but I would say half empty... I always find a way to bring down something in my head which sucks.

10. Do you collect anything?
Do memories count? I have a memory wall in my room filled with tickets, photographs and little bits and pieces that will remind me of a certain time in my life.

11. Have you ever had a surprise party thrown for you and you were actually surprised?
Yes, actually it was a few weeks ago. I wasn't expecting it at all and I ended up crying because it was so thoughtful of all my friends to do it!

12. Who was your first crush?
Does Zac Efron count even though he is a celebrity? I must say I still have a crush on him years after High School Musical!

There you go some really random facts about me!

I want to know about you guys so tell me one thing about yourself in the comments!

My First Blogiversary!

Hey Guys!

It's official, today Catriona... turns 1 year old!

Yes, that's right this time last year I finally sat down and wrote a blog post and actually pushed the Publish button! Fun fact: I'm sitting at the exact same place writing this post as I was with my first ever one!

If I'm honest I didn't think when I started Catriona... that we would still be here a year later because I'm awful at committing to things but we are!

I admit my post schedule hasn't really been consistent especially in the first 6 months of this blog but I think I've gotten a lot better at it and I have been posting more than once a week since October.

Not only has the posting schedule been crazy but also my blog design. I have gone through 3 blog designs including one of the pre-made Blogger Templates which I kept for at least 3 months *insert monkey covering his eyes emoji* which I am really ashamed to admit but we all have to start somewhere right?!

I hope you have enjoyed this little space on the internet over the past year and who knows what is to come in the future!

All I know is that blogging still brings me joy and I will be blogging here until that joy goes away which I really hope it doesn't!

So I would just like to thank everyone who has followed, liked and commented on my blog because it's nice to see that people actually enjoy what I'm putting out there.

If you have any suggestions or you want to see something on Catriona... then hit me up!

Remember to go follow me on all of my social medias which are all linked in the sidebar!

Thanks for reading!

John Green: Yay or Nay?

Hey Guys

I don't go anywhere without a book it's a fact. I feel really weird when I don't have a book with me (hopefully I'm not the only one!).

We all have authors that we love and we also have authors that we hate but in my opinion the most controversial author would be, John Green.

I have read a total of 3 books by John Green and they are - The Fault In Our Stars, Paper Towns and Will Grayson, Will Grayson (co-written).

I have a very mixed opinion with John Green I have loved two of his books one being TFIOS which some people just don't get the hype about and I feel that this book have been blogged about an awful lot. With TFIOS you either love it or hate it. Personally, I really enjoyed it and did shed a few, okay tons, of tears... Then the movie came around and I cried a fair bit more.

The Fault In Our Stars was also my first John Green book so once I had finished it I went in search of the next great John Green book. I was recommended the book, Paper Towns, so of course I went out and bought it and honestly it was the worst decision I have ever made... I really didn't like it. I couldn't get into the story and I didn't feel like the characters had any depth to them. It took me about 9 months to actually finishing the book (I read about 15 other books inbetween that time) and if I'm honest it put me off John Green books altogether and I didn't go anywhere near them.

Paper Towns is now being made into a movie and even though I didn't like the book at all I will probably go and see the movie and see if that helps change my decision of the book. My friends who have read Paper Towns  really didn't understand why I didn't enjoy it but I guess we all have different tastes.

I took a break from all kinds of John Green books until February where I picked up Will Grayson, Will Grayson. Which is also written by an author that I love called David Levithan. I will admit I was skeptic when I saw John Green's name but I decided to give it a try anyway.

If I'm honest I'm so glad that I did because I loved it! Will Grayson, Will Grayson is honestly a book like no other and has such a good storyline! Compared to Paper Towns, Will Grayson Will Grayson's characters were so intriguing and you couldn't wait to find out what happened to them! Also I read this book in less than a week which is quite a big different to the 9 months with Paper Towns!

Personally I still haven't decided if I love him or hate him yet. Think I have to read at least one other of his books before I make a final decision! I think it will be  Look For Alaska but I'm not sure yet!

So that's my opinion on the author John Green! What's yours? Do you love him or hate him?

Let me know in the comments below! :D

My Bath Bomb Collection

Hey Guys!

If you may or may not know I love a good bath. Like seriously they are amazing! Especially because they help to calm me down when I'm really anxious which you may know if you have read my When I'm Anxious I... | Have A Bath post.

My absolute favourite part about having a bath is popping the bath bomb into my bath I mean who couldn't love the magic of it changing the colour of the water?!

Because of this my collection of bath combs seems to be forever growing so I thought I would share with you what it looks like!

I use two different companies to get my bath bombs one being Lush because well it's Lush and it's amazing but my nearest Lush shop is up in Glasgow which is a bit of a trek but I do have a shop which sells a brand called Bomb Cosmetics in my local area so that fixes my addiction of them when I'm running out!

Lush Products

  1. Honey Bee bath bomb
  2. Big Blue bath bomb
  3. Space Girl bath bomb
  4. Black berry bath bomb (this isn't available online)
  5. The Comforter bubble bar
  6. The Golden Present bath bomb (Christmas Collection so no longer available)
  7. Sakura bath bomb
All of these are available online and probably in stores too!

Bomb Cosmetics
  1. Summer of Love Blaster bath bomb
  2. Mad About You Creamer bath melt
  3. Miss Fancy Pants Mallow bath melt
  4. S.W.A.L.K Bath Mallow bath melt
  5. Lovely Zinger bath tulip ( no longer available)
You can pick these up online or in  store so yay!

And that's my bath bomb collection! I don't like to use them in every single bath but it's nice to feel a bit pampered sometimes and adding a bath bomb can do just that!

Do you enjoy having a bath bomb in your bath?

Mother's Day Gift Ideas

Hey Guys!

I hope you aren't just finding this out by reading this but it is Mother's Day on Sunday!

A day to cherish your Mother and just remind her that you love her! Now a stressful part of the day is actually buying her a present that she is going to love!

So here are a few ideas on what you can get her!

1. Bath Bombs - In my opinion you can never go wrong with a bath bomb because it makes you feel really pampered!

2. Chocolate - Basically it's what every girl wants!

3. Candles - I love to burn candles and to buy them for other people because they bring so much warmth to the room!

4. Fancy body stuff  - By this I mean splash out and get your Mum her favourite expensive hand cream or body scrub that she only gets at Christmas!

5. Something handmade - For something a bit different you can do a DIY gift. These are a little bit more special and especially when you have exhausted all of the other gift ideas!

7. Perfume - Who doesn't like to smell nice?!

8. Jewellery  - A little something for her to wear that reminds her of YOU!

9. A fancy bag or a fancy pair of shoes - Something for your Mum to make her feel a bit spoilt!

10. Flowers - This is definitely a personal favourite of mine and my Mum loves when she gets a big bunch of flowers delivered to the door!

I hope I have given you some inspiration on what to get your Mum this Mothering Sunday.

The BEST Ceilidh Ever!

Hey Guys!

At the weekend I went to my first ceilidh of 2015 and I thought I would tell you a bit about it because it was also my 18th Birthday celebration!

Now the last ceilidh I went to a few months ago I dubbed 'the worst ceilidh ever' and I even wrote a blog post about it because it just didn't go my way at all but this ceilidh was the total opposite and was honestly one of the best ceilidhs I have ever been to and I have been to quite a few!

Getting ready wise I didn't really have to lift a finger because as a birthday present I would be getting my hair and makeup done so that took off some of the stress and all I had to do was put my dress on!

For my hair I had two braids pull back the sides of my hair and they met in the middle to create this knot thing and the rest was all curly. Unfortunately I didn't get a photo and I realise now that as a blogger I probably should of for this post!

Now getting my makeup done was so exciting because as you all know I suck at makeup so having someone who knows all about it do it for me was great! I have never worn that much makeup in my life and I really loved it! I went for a smokey eye look instead of a bold lip which I usually go for and I got many a compliment throughout the night which was nice!

I was taking 9 of my friends to the ceilidh so we sat at the table as well as having some family and close family friends at the table right next to us! Part of the ticket price was that you got a three course meal and I had the lentil soup, Balmoral chicken (chicken stuffed with haggis) and then a little bit of chocolate fudge cake.

There was a photographer there and of course I got many a photo with my squad I think is the new term that everyone is saying and I would say that my friend group should definitiely be your squad goals not that I'm biased or anything ;)

After we had our photos the ceilidh commenced! The ceilidh band was no other than Gunna Sound which I would say is definitely one of my favourites because they sing as well as having just the instrumental music! A good thing about this ceilidh is that they didn't play all of those weird ceilidh dances that hardly anyone knows and they played most of the regulars like the Gay Gordan's and the Dashing White Sergeant.

Throughout the night because I am now 18, people kept buying me drinks so when I was off the dance floor I hardly ever didn't have a drink in my hand! I must admit I did get a little tipsy (a lot actually) but it was my 18th so please do not judge!

By the end of the night the drinks had all been downed and all of our feet were sore so after a very drunken rendition of Auld lang Syne it was time for us to hit the chippy and get a taxi home!

I had such a fun night with all of my friends and I cannot wait for my next ceilidh which happens in like 3 weeks time!!

I Had My Hair Dyed For The First Time

Hey Guys!

In my last post I wrote about how it was my 18th birthday recently and one of the gifts I was given from my brother and his family was a full on pamper day!

So on Tuesday I went to the salon and had a facial which was just fab! I suffer from pretty bad acne so having a facial every now and again makes my skin feel nice for once! I also had my eyebrows tinted which was a completely new experience for me but now I get why people do it because they look so much better!

I was given the chance to do whatever with my hair which really wasn't good for me because I'm awful at making decisions and I have pretty much gotten the same cut for about my whole time at secondary school so 6 years!

I knew I wanted a bit of a change though not too much of a change because I don't handle change well but a little bit of a change so my hairdresser who was lovely said we would cut it a little bit and then add so lighter shades of blonde to the ends of the hair in a kind of subdued ombre look!

Getting my hair cut was pretty normal and I was beginning to get all excited about having this tiny bit of a change! My hairdresser was so shocked to find out that I was a virgin in all things dyeing hair and was probably more excited about it all than I was!!

Obviously I knew what getting your hair dyed looked like so I knew about the whole mixing the dye, brushing it on and then using that sticky paper to conceal the dye into my hair.

We decided to go the same shade for most of my hair which would be pretty much my normal hair colour so that was what she did first! It smelt really nice the dye which I don't know if it is a good thing or not but it did! Then she added the lighter tones to the ends of my hair! This was cool to watch and see how she mixed and matched with the different shades.

I was then left for 20 minutes for the dye to settle into my hair and as time went on I began to notice the difference in the colour of my hair and how it began to get lighter!

I really like my hair now and I think I might be a little more bolder the next time and go for an even lighter shade but who knows?

But of course I will keep you all my lovely readers informed!

It Was My 18th Birthday!

Hey Guys!

Yesterday, the 1st March, I turned 18!! And I can definitely say it was one of the best birthdays I have had in a long time!!

Leading up to my birthday I wasn't actually that excited I mean I was to an extent but not as excited as some people I know have been.

During the day I had a constant flow of visitors which I really wasn't expecting! I guess because it was a Sunday people had more time! I had my neighbours, my aunt and uncle, my brother and his family, one of my closest friends and also some super close family friends who I call my second family!!

I also found myself constantly on Facebook thanking all of the people who sent me a Happy Birthday message which was so lovely of people to do! Especially when it was from my friends and they added pictures of us. Some were pretty embarrassing and some were actually quite nice. I preferred the latter if I'm honest!

Now I have family all over the place, literally so while I had all of the visitors to the house the house phone was constantly going as well as the Skype! The Skype kept cutting out which by the end of the day started to get very annoying but I was grateful that so many people wanted to ask how my day was going!

I received so many lovely things like jewellery, bath bombs, specialty tea and of course alcohol! I did have a laugh when my brother came running into the house with a bottle of Prosecco for me! It was so weird having him give me alcohol!!

I didn't really do much to celebrate my birthday except go out for dinner with my Mum and Dad to a local restaurant. Which was really nice spending some quality time with just them! But this weekend I will be celebrating properly by going to one of my favourite things ever a CEILIDH with all of my closest friends!!

I'm starting to get super excited about it but that will probably be a complete other different post!

I'm going to take the time to thank every person who has wished me a Happy Birthday and I am feeling very loved and cherished at the moment!
